Jacob Turner of Richland finished eighth out of 28 competitors in the men's trap shooting event Wednesday at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
At Jalisco Hunting Club, Turner totaled 118 points (23-25-23-23-24) in five qualification attempts. He did not make the final.
Matthew Gossett of Springville, Ala., was the top-placing American, finishing fourth with a total (qualification and final rounds) of 142.
Jean Pierre Brol of Guatemala won with a score of 146. Danilo Caro of Colombia claimed the silver medal at 145, and Roberto Schmits of Brazil scored 143 for the bronze.
On Sept. 25 in Kerrville, Texas, Turner finished atop the leaderboard after the first round of the U.S. Olympic trap shooting trials.
The next Olympic qualifying trial is scheduled for May in Tucson, Ariz.
