I keep hearing the ads for Initiative 1183. I don't like it. If they want to privatize alcohol sales, why don't they privatize the stores, not put the alcohol in general stores? The law limits who is able to buy the stuff, why not have all forms of alcoholic beverages in a dedicated store, similar to the tobacco stores? The only persons allowed in the store are those legal to purchase what is sold.
You have the privatization, the extra taxes (in the initiative), and the restricted access to protect our children and youth. If one of these stores wants to run 24 hours -- like the convenience stores and Walmart, it can pay the extra costs. Only people old enough to work there can buy there. Just a thought!
