* 1984 -- John Morgan's Hanford football team shocked third-ranked West Valley 64-14 behind Jeff Bumgarner's 286 yards passing and four touchdowns. Calvin Green ran for three scores and also caught a 50-yard TD pass for the Falcons, who piled up 513 yards of offense in improving to 2-4 in the Mid-Valley League and 3-4 overall.

* 1974 -- Keith Jolley ran a "lifetime best" to spark the Richland cross country team to repeat as champions at the Richland Invitational. Jolley, running in the race for No. 3 men, finished in 12:42 (a meet record for the No. 3 race) to pace the Bombers to a one-second victory over Rogers of Spokane. Guy Tunnell was 1 second faster in the No. 1 race, finishing fifth to Ferris' Tim Riley (12:19). The team scores were based on total elapsed time for all seven runners. Four Tri-Citians placed in the top 10 in the No. 2 race, with Kamiakin's Chuck Perrizo outsprinting Richland's Jim Rice for fourth place.
