RICHLAND -- Registration is open for businesses wanting to recruit qualified candidates Nov. 8 at the Career Fair at Washington State University Tri-Cities.

About 1,000 job-seekers are expected, as WSU Tri-Cities is partnering with WorkSource Columbia Basin to welcome laid-off Hanford workers to the event. About 60 employer booths are available for $35 each and may be reserved at www.tricity.wsu.edu/careerfair.

The event is from to 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- with a special early entrance hour at 10 a.m. for WSU Tri-Cities students who show current WSU ID -- in the Consolidated Information Center at 2770 Crimson Way in Richland.

Businesses, public organizations, and not-for-profit agencies are invited to meet prospective employees or promote internships and volunteer opportunities. This is the only WSU Tri-Cities career fair planned for the 2011-12 academic year.

In addition to the public, employers will have access to current students who are earning degrees in business, computer science, education, engineering, liberal arts (including digital technology and culture, English, history, psychology, and sociology), nursing, sciences, and viticulture and enology. There will be a "fast pass" entrance line for students with current WSU ID.

Three, 45-minute workshops for job-seekers will be held during the Career Fair including resume development, interviewing skills, and how to start a business. A "resume doctor" booth will provide quick and honest feedback about a rsum's format and text.

The Career Development Center can be reached at 509-372-7600 or careerfair@tricity.wsu.edu.
