A Richland man who said he had a medical marijuana card but allegedly was found with 9 1/2 pounds of pot in his home pleaded innocent to drug charges.

Jerry Richwine, 28, faces a Dec. 5 trial in Benton County Superior Court for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and possession of a legend drug.

Richwine was arrested Saturday by Richland police after officers responded to call about the smell of marijuana coming from his home in the 900 block of Davenport Street, police said.

Richwine reportedly told officers he had a valid medical marijuana card.

But state law says a person with a valid permit for medical marijuana can grow up to 15 plants and have a 60-day supply of processed marijuana, which is set at 24 ounces.

Richwine also reportedly had hydrocodone pills but no prescription.

His bail is set at $1,000.
