The public is invited to attend a lecture by Italian computational scientist Michele Parrinello on Tuesday at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

In his technical talk, "Proteins in Motion," Parrinello will discuss how studying a protein's structure can expand our understanding of how proteins operate and work. He will focus on the computational chemistry technique of metadynamics.

Parrinello is a professor of computational sciences at ETH in Zurich, Switzerland, and a professor of computational chemistry at Scoula Normale in Pisa, Italy.

The talk is part of the Laboratory Director's Distinguished Lecture Series at the Department of Energy national lab in Richland. It will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Battelle Auditorium, 904 Battelle Blvd., Richland. A reception will follow.
