HERMISTON -- The dispatch center for the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office was expected to be working again Wednesday evening.
Service for 911 calls was lost Wednesday morning, and the problem was traced to a fiber optic cable that had been pulled down from a pole.
Emergency service was maintained by routing calls to the Morrow County Sheriff's Office, which communicated with the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office in Pendleton with a radio system.
It also had the capability to route phone calls to the Hermiston Police Department for dispatch of emergency response.
