Looking for something to do this week besides watch the baseball playoffs? Here’s a quick primer.
Tonight, take in either the West Valley at Hanford volleyball match (7 p.m., Hanford High), or the West Valley at Kamiakin girls soccer match (7 p.m., Lampson Stadium).
Both feature matchups between top teams in the CBBN 3A.
On Wednesday, the Prince Albert Raiders invade the Toyota Center to battle the Tri-City Americans, who are off the another great start in the Western Hockey League.
Drop of the puck is at 7:05 p.m.
Thursday’s best looks to happen at the Kennewick High School gym, where the West Valley volleyball team is back in the Tri-Cities to take on the Lions at 7 p.m.
Friday is high school football night, and the best matchup looks to be at Edgar Brown Stadium, where Davis visits Chiawana. The Pirates have a high-powered offense.
And while Jordan Downing is likely out for the season with an ankle injury, the Riverhawks still have plenty of talent. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
On the small-school side, Royal visits River View at 7 p.m. in a key 1A SCAC East contest. This will be the first of three consecutive tough opponents for the Panthers, who host Zillah on Oct. 21 and visit Connell on Oct. 28.
On Saturday, we have a doubleheader. First, take in the Moses Lake at Richland girls soccer match at Bomber Field at 1 p.m. These two teams are 1-2 in the CBBN 4A right now.
Next, the Vancouver Giants visit the Americans at 7:05 p.m. at the Toyota Center in their first meeting of the season.
On Sunday, there is always the NFL. But check out VERSUS at 1 p.m. for the second of the Air National Guard H1 Unlimited Hydroplane series shows.
This one will feature the APBA Detroit Gold Cup.
I watched the first episode last night. It was a recap of the Madison Indiana Governor’s Cup.
I thought it was well produced. It did not run every heat in its entirety — which is good, since many of them were just parade laps anyway. And I would have thought there would have been some video showing Brian Perkins accidently running his U-21 over a rescue sled. But there wasn’t.
But I liked the little features, and they gave us every angle possible of the collision between Dave Villwock and his U-96 Spirit of Qatar, and Steve David and the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto.
The Tri-Cities’ race will be shown at 1 p.m. on Oct. 23.
Looking for a sports road trip?
Try Pullman on Friday, where you can watch the WSU men’s and women’s basketball teams hold their first practice of the season at 8 p.m. in Bohler Gym.
Stay the night, then watch WSU’s football team take on nationally ranked Stanford at 4:30 p.m.
Or head to Seattle for a long Saturday, in which you can watch the University of Washington football team play host to Colorado at 12:30 p.m.
Afterwards, head over the CenturyLink Field to watch the Sounders FC play host to the San Jose Earthquakes.
The Sounders are headed to the MLS playoffs, but this is the team’s final regular-season home match. It’s also going to be keeper Kasey Keller’s final regular-season home match, as he plans to retire after the season.
