A Walla Walla man was injured Saturday in a shooting police describe as gang-related.
Officers responded to reports of someone having been shot in the 300 block of North Sixth Avenue in Walla Walla at 3 p.m. Saturday, said Tim Bennett, spokesman for the Walla Walla Police Department.
Police identified the victim as Birzavit Carmona-Hernandez, 18, from Walla Walla. He was taken to a hospital by private vehicle, where he was treated, and released for a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police said the shooting was a result of a confrontation between gang members near a house gang members are known to frequent. The victim was shot as rival gang members fled the scene in a vehicle. Several shots were fired, but there are no other known injuries.
