A 28-year-old Kennewick man was arrested after breaking into his estranged wife's home and holding her against her will, police said.

Kennewick police were called to an apartment at 1001 W. Fourth Ave. at 6 p.m. Wednesday, after the suspect eventually left the victim's home, said Mike Blatman, Kennewick police spokesman.

She told officers Juan Carlos Arellano-Guzman had arrived at her home unannounced to discuss a picture of her that he saw on Facebook, Blatman said.

The apartment door was locked and the victim refused to let him in. Arellano-Guzman, however, found an open window, cut the screen with a knife and let himself in, Blatman said.

The victim tried to call for help, but Arellano-Guzman reportedly took her cellphone. She told officers that when she tried to leave, he slammed her hand in the door and would not her go.

Officers made contact with Arellano-Guzman later in the evening and he agreed to meet them on Clearwater Avenue and Highway 395, Blatman said.

He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of residential burglary, unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree domestic violence assault.
