PROSSER -- Prosser is close to being listed as one of America's top 100 communities for young people for 2011.

Charlie Bush, Prosser city administrator, leaked the news this week in a memo to the city council.

The award, which will be announced Wednesday, would put Prosser in a highly respected list created by America's Promise Alliance. The organization was founded by Colin and Alma Powell and Colin Powell is a Boys & Girls Club alum, Bush noted.

"We would be in a very exclusive company, particularly as a small city, if we win," Bush boasted in his staff memo.

Prior winners in Washington include Bellevue, Spokane, Kent, Lakewood, Redmond and Tacoma, he said.
