CONNELL -- About the only person able to tackle Connell's Matt Hadley on Friday was teammate Ryan Heinen.
Heinen brought Hadley down in the end zone, after Hadley scored his 100th career touchdown on a 17-yard pass from Chandler Salisbury. The team on the field then dogpiled him.
"This definitely wasn't a top priority for me," Hadley said, "but after it happened I felt pretty happy."
Hadley scored six touchdowns in all Friday in a 55-7 SCAC East victory against visiting Columbia-Burbank.
He now has 100 for his career, surpassing Prosser's Kirby Moore, who scored 99 between 2005-08 for the most in Washington state history.
Hadley tied the touchdowns in a season record with 50 last season and has won the past two Class 1A All-State player of the year awards.
The Eagles have gone to two state championship games in Hadley's career, winning once and losing once.
"It's definitely something that is obviously pretty rare," Hadley said. "It is a really cool accomplishment. If you look at it, the touchdowns go under my name, but I was happy with how everybody reacted. It is their number just as much as it is mine."
Hadley scored on rushing touchdowns of 6, 36, 13 and 17 yards in the first half. He also had receiving touchdowns of 28 and 17 yards.
"It's not too many times you get to coach a player who scores that many touchdowns and break state records," Connell coach Wayne Riner said. "He is a special kid. It was pretty cool to see him do that."
Hadley added an interception on defense and a forced fumble. He rushed 14 times for 220 yards.
"It wasn't just his running tonight," Riner said. "He was feeling good tonight. You could tell he wasn't hurting. He was sick as a dog last week."
Salisbury finished 10-of-13 for 166 yards and he rushed five times for 57 yards. Kade Eppich had a 17-yard touchdown catch as well.
