Steve Henderson, Roberta Zimmerman and Shanna Fledderjohann are the featured artists at the Allied Arts Gallery during the month of October.

Henderson is a nationally-known artist from Dayton whose landscape and seascape paintings are representational to his Eastern Washington topics.

He also spent time in the Andes Mountains in Colombia, where he painted a 300-foot canvas roll of Bible stories for a local pastor who planned to carry the canvas through the countryside and teach from it.

Zimmerman of Arizona creates unique clay creations that are tossed onto a pottery wheel where no two pieces are identical, she told the Herald in an email.

"As a professional potter, I am deeply influenced by my childhood in Arizona and Old Mexico, greatly admiring Native American skills," Zimmerman said. "I use a potter's wheel and work in white stoneware clay and unleaded glazes."

Fledderjohann also is a potter who uses both wheel-thrown and hand-building methods when she creates bowls and tea sets.

A reception for the artists will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 9 at the gallery, 89 Lee Blvd., Richland, next to Howard Amon Park. The show opens Oct. 4 and continues through Nov. 2.

Admission is free. Regular gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
