Learn about the fascinating world of cheese at three classes at Cheese Louise, a cheese and wine shop on The Parkway in Richland.
Each class runs two hours and includes a chance to nibble on some unusual cheeses.
The classes are taught by the owner of Cheese Louise, master cheese monger Bill Krieger of Walla Walla.
Cost for each class is $35 and reservations are necessary. For more information or to sign up, call 509-420-4222. A $20 deposit is due at registration for each class.
The classes are:
-- Octoberfest: Beer and Cheese from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 8. Wine and cheese are a classic pairing but beer and cheese are delicious too. Krieger will discuss various types of beer and their history, as well as cheeses that pair with these tasty beverages.
-- That Cheese Stinks, from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 20. Krieger will talk about washed-rind, or "stinky," cheeses from around the world. Learn about how they are made and their origins.
-- Cheese 101 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 12. Krieger will cover the basics: types of cheese and their origins, how to care for and select quality cheeses, and most importantly, how to taste cheeses.
