Pilar A. Bazan, 27, of Othello, died early Sunday in a single-accident crash on Highway 395 north of Pasco.

The Washington State Patrol said the Othello woman was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Alejandra Cardona, 25, also of Othello.

Cardona reportedly overcorrected her northbond SUV at 3:30 a.m., causing it to overturn and hit a light pole about 10 miles north of Pasco.

Drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, the state patrol reported.

Bazan, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, WSP said.

Cardona, who was using a seat belt, was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She was reported in stable condition.
