Our bridges, roads and other infrastructure need to be repaired. Looked what happened in Minnesota! Look at our roads here in the Tri-Cities that need to be fixed. Other places that need bridges replaced. Look at the East Coast with the damages from the hurricane, roads washed out, bridges damaged. Imagine how many people could go to work to get these things fixed. Yes, I know, there are people who don't want the government to get involved. But wait a minute, who is the government? We the People.
It doesn't matter anymore what political party/philosophy you believe in. What should matter is what our elected representatives are going to do to help this country. I understand the need to cut the deficit. This was something that should have been done during the Bush administration, but it wasn't, because decisions were made to "help" the country (and fight two wars and cut taxes for the millionaires). So what is the real reason that a group of politicians don't want to do anything to help their country.
I guess it really depends on Congress. If they are willing to get behind the people (yes, the people) and not their desire to make President Obama a one-term president. From the moment the president was elected, it has been the determination of a group of politicians to do absolutely nothing that would appear to help the president, when it is the "people" that would be helped.
We really need to look at what is going on in Congress. It is not just one person who controls what is being done. The president proposes, the Senate and House of Representatives look at the proposal and compromise/work out a deal so the president can sign the bill.
Again, I guess it really depends on Congress. If they are willing to get behind the people (yes, the people) and not their desire to make President Obama a one-term president and work together to get this country going again.
