RICHLAND -- Richland's Lisa Bratton qualified for state in the 100-yard freestyle event with a first-place time of 55.38 seconds as the Bombers earned a 117-69 victory over Moses Lake in CBBN 4A swimming Saturday at Prout Pool.
In the 3A ranks, Hanford's Melissa Merrill earned state-qualification times in the 200 freestyle (2:00.97) and 100 backstroke (1:03.35), and Southridge's Kate McLaughlin posted an SQ in the 100 butterfly (1:01.59) as the Falcons bested the Suns 114-71.
Merrill also was the Falcons' leadoff swimmer in the state-qualifying 200 medley (1:57.37) and 200 freestyle (1:45.53) relays, which also featured teammate Stephanie Tixier, who clocked 54.79 seconds in the 100 freestyle event for an individual SQ.
And the Southridge lineup of McLaughlin, Bre Lyons, Rachel Schafer and Megan O'Leary placed second in the 200 free relay race with a state-qualifying time of 1:46.39.

Walla Walla's Hannah Burns, Andrea Hamada, Elli Rassbach and Cheyenne Schoen qualified for districts in the 200 freestyle individual race at Whitman College.
Meanwhile, Emma Timm-Ballard, Abby Crowley, Katelyn Elmenhurst and Miranda Rugg scored district times in the 200 individual medley. Anna Reid and Natalie Fink also posted district times for Walla Walla in the 50 free.
