Some of the community's newest teachers will receive a library of books for their classroom on Monday, thanks to Goodwill Industries of the Columbia.

Through a partnership with the Children's Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia, Goodwill Industries has invested $20,000 to ensure that new teachers in Benton and Franklin counties serving children kindergarten to third grade get 50 new and 50 gently used books.

Additional libraries will be made available to teachers in special needs classrooms.

About 45 teachers will be honored at the Country Gentleman Catering & Restaurant at 5 p.m. Monday where they will be presented with their "First Teacher Library."
