Sunnyside police are investigating a shooting early Wednesday that left one man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Officers received a report about shots being fired in the 300 block of North 10th Street around 6 a.m., police said.

A car, multiple casings from a small-caliber weapon and a minimal amount of blood was found when officers arrived on scene, police said.

Officers then found a man hiding in the area and saw he had been shot in the leg. He was treated at a local hospital.

Investigators say two vehicles apparently were on the road at the time of the shooting and people exited the car and fired shots.

The motive behind the shooting is not known.
