* 1980 -- Devils Lou, an Oregon-bred gelding ridden by Jerry Winters, beat Kennewick horse Golden Fits Her by a half-length to win the Sun Downs Fall Derby.

* 1962 -- Valley football scoring leader Dale Pulisevich of Prosser added eight points to his season total, and those eight points were the difference as the Mustangs defeated the Selah Vikings 20-13 for their second victory of the season and their first at home.

* 1951 -- Bill Duffy's foot provided the victory margin for Kennewick in a 7-6 win against Longview. The Lion calmly kicked the ball straight between the uprights after a first-quarter touchdown, spelling defeat for the visiting Lumberjacks.
