A popular Southridge High teacher died unexpectedly Tuesday morning.

Henry Lee, 48, was found dead in his bed. Officers were called at 6:40 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive man at a Newport Street home, said Mike Blatman, Kennewick police spokesman.

Lee was a chemistry and health occupation teacher for the past two years at Southridge, said Lorraine Cooper, Kennewick School District spokeswoman.

He was remembered by staff members as being very positive, funny and well-liked, Cooper said.

Lee's death is being investigated by the Kennewick Police Department. No foul play is suspected. The coroner's office was called and is expected to schedule an autopsy.

A grief center for students and staff was set up in the library, and counselors visited students who had classes with Lee, Cooper said.
