* 1986 -- Julie Zirkle scored three goals to lead the Hanford girls' soccer team to a 6-1 win over Kennewick. The Falcons took a 4-0 halftime lead, while Jennifer Bennett and Becca Huising combined in goal to stop nine shots.

* 1977--The Kiona-Benton football team remained in a holding pattern after a special levy for the Ki-Be school district failed for the second time in as many tries. The Bears, scheduled to play White Swan later in the week, were in danger of falling victim to an athletic department that, according to Kiona-Benton district superintendent Jerry Hansen, had exhausted its budget.
