* 1964 -- Three Kennewick High School graduates helped the Central Washington University football team defeat Whitman College 40-6. Keith Paine rushed for 44 yards, including an 8-yard TD run; Jim O'Brien was 5-for-10 for 99 yards passing, including a 45-yard TD pass, and 21 more yards rushing; and Butch Hill kicked two extra points.

* 1956 -- Tri-City Braves player-manager Don Pries left the Tri-Cities to talk to three major-league clubs about getting a working agreement with the Braves for the 1957 season. Pries was to meet with officials from the Kansas City Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Dodgers.
