* Sept. 18, 2003 -- Tri-City Americans owner Darryl Porter and general manager Bob Tory were concerned about the team's attendance figures. With one day before the team's season home opener against the Spokane Chiefs, only 1,900 tickets had been sold.

* Sept. 18, 1998 -- Al Genatone rushed for 141 yards as Kamiakin defeated Southridge 34-7 in the first-ever varsity football meeting between the Kennewick schools.

* Sept. 18, 1988 -- Angus Bampton and Kara Long won the singles titles at the Tri-City Tennis Association's First of Fall Tournament at the Columbia Basin Racquet Club in Richland.

* Sept. 18, 1982 -- Quarterback Craig Maley tossed three touchdown passes to lead the Columbia Basin College football team to a 27-15 victory over the visiting Wenatchee Valley Knights.
