* 1986 -- The Kennewick girls soccer team won the first game in school history with a 2-0 victory against Toppenish. Tina Latkovich and Angela Schlavach scored in the final eight minutes of the game to lead the Lions.

* 1964 -- Columbia Basin starting right end Wendell Jones injured his ankle in a passing drill, putting him on the sideline for the Hawks' season opener two nights later in Pasco against Boise. The previous season, Jones caught 21 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns.
