KENNEWICK -- Southridge's Katelyn McLaughlin posted a first-place, state-qualifying time of 1 minute, 12.04 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke and also took first in the 200 IM (2:20.27) in a CBBN 3A tri-dual at Serier Pool.

In both races, McLaughlin's nearest threat was Sunnyside's Marisa Broersma, who clocked second-place finishes of 2:22.59 in the 200 IM and 1:13.40 in the 100 breaststroke.

The Suns' Megan O'Leary also placed first in the 200 freestyle race (2:06.73).

On Saturday, the Suns' 200 medley relay team -- McLaughlin, O'Leary, Rachel Schafer and Breanna Lyons -- qualified for state with a second-place time of 1:58.46 in the Richland City Pool nonleague jamboree.
