A Benton City man was arrested in Walla Walla after allegedly pointing a gun at police officers.

Walla Walla police were called to the 100 block of Bryant Avenue at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man with a gun, said Officer Tim Bennett.

Officers were told there was someone driving a motor home recklessly in the area and waving a gun, he said.

Paul Andreson, 63, confronted an officer who was searching the driveway where the motorhome was parked.

Andreson was crouching down near the garage and pointing a gun at one of the officers, Bennett said.

Officers talked Andreson into putting the gun on the ground. The gun was a loaded and cocked .45-caliber revolver, Bennett said.

Andreson appeared to be hallucinating, claiming there were snipers on his motor home trying to kill him, Bennett said.

He was arrested and booked into the Walla Walla County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
