Connie and Bob George celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 27 at the Pasco Red Lion.

Connie moved to the Tri-Cities from Manteca, Calif., in 1947 and Bob moved from Loup City, Neb., in 1934. They were married on Aug. 30, 1951, at the Kennewick First United Methodist Church.

Connie graduated from Kennewick High School in 1952 and worked for GTE from 1956-57. She was a homemaker until 1966 when she went to work for the Kennewick School District as a school bus driver. She retired from there in 1992.

Bob is a graduate of Kennewick High School in 1950 and from Columbia Basin College in 1958. He served in the Navy from 1951-55. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad in 1955 and Central Stores Hanford from 1955-57 when he started work for the Hanford Fire Department. He retired as battalion chief in 1989.

They have four children, Laurie (Jack) Barger; Mark (Marcy) George; Kenny (Tammy) George; and Glenna (Devin) Hawley all of Kennewick.

They have nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
