Theres no doubt Mike Noftle and radio broadcast partner Ryan Christensen are passionate about Royal High School football.
They do a solid and entertaining job week after week with their play-by-play of Knights football, which can be heard live at royalhighsports.com via Ustream.com.
Theres no attempt to hide their love for the Knights, but they readily give both teams credit and dont shy away from critiquing their favorite team.
Tonight, they travel to Omak, which lost to Connell in the state semifinals. This year, Dylan Green is back for the Pioneers, and he rushed for 255 yards and four TDs in their season opener vs. Kettle Falls. He also had a 85-yard kickoff return for another score in the 49-12 rout.
Last weekend, Noftle took his love of high school football to another level, attending five games in little more than 24 -- starting with Royals 42-27 loss at Cashmere on Friday night. He detailed it for the Stories from the Edge blog on Northwestprepreport.com.
He and talked his wife into hopping in the car for a trip to Seattle and the Kickoff Classic at "The Clink," where they took in Blaine vs. Hazen, Oroville vs. Darrington and North Mason vs. W.F. West.
Thanks for W.F. West's 28-0 halftime lead, they got an early start for their drive to Sumners Chevy Stadium and Nooksack Valley vs. Cascade Christian -- the defending 1A state champions.
Its fun read and includes loads of insight on all 10 teams he watched.
Good thing his wife brought along a good book. She must be a good sport, too.
