An 18-year-old Walla Walla woman died Tuesday after being stabbed in a fight at the Blue Mountain mall, police said.

Officers were called to the mall around 1:15 a.m. and found Audrey Brewer with a stab wound, said Walla Walla police Officer Tim Bennett.

Brewer died a short time later at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

Witnesses identified the suspect as 29-year-old Angela D. Effinger of Walla Walla, Bennett said.

Effinger was contacted at her apartment a few minutes later and arrested. During an interview, Effinger reportedly admitted getting into a fight with Brewer.

Effinger, a mother of four children, was booked into the Walla Walla County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident and searched Effinger's apartment Tuesday, Bennett said.
