Response to Darren Hagins "Speed trap" (Letters, Aug. 28). He's kidding me, right? Who was doing more harm in the situation he cited? All law enforcement can safely bypass traffic laws while in the line of duty: exceed speed limit, u-turns, go through red lights when responding to an emergency, drive and talk on cell when calling back a 911 hangup because possibly it was a woman or child being beaten and couldn't stay on the line, park in roadway to keep traffic from an accident scene.

I certainly agree that everyone should be held accountable for their actions. Even Hagins for telling speeders to get away with knowingly breaking the law because the officer was parked on the sidewalk while enforcing the laws that protect others.

Thank you to all law enforcement for what you do for us and what you have to put up with from us. And thank you Darren for telling all that they need to go the speed limit near Columbia Center Boulevard and Arrowhead Avenue.
