The author of the letter, "Mismanaged Mariners," on Aug. 16 made some good points, but I take objection to how he advised the general managers of the team.
I feel that the Herald violated its code of ethics as written at the bottom center of your Opinion page. I quote, "Letters that defame individuals, ethnic or religious groups or in poor taste will not be printed."
Had a like letter used "fat" and "bald-headed" to describe a member of a minority, a religious leader or even a politician, I feel sure it would be unacceptable.
His reference singles out current and past general managers, yet as I look back, past general managers do not fit the profile described by the writer.
His disrespect does not deserve such and has no place in the Tri-City Herald. I believe you missed the ball on this one.
Second, most baseball experts would be pretty eager to have all the new young ones who have recently come to light on the Mariners' roster. I believe they are on the move and look forward to seeing more of these young lions in 2012.
