Great Gear: Make your dog carry its own kit

Tired of lugging around Fido's doggy bag?

Now you can make him carry his own with Alite Design's Kung Fu Dog Collar. A sleek alternative to the bulky backpacks that make dogs stomp their paws in protest, Kung Fu's no-frills design is smart simplicity with a zippered pouch attached to the collar.

It can't carry a full dog bone, but it can hold the essentials: a dog bag, a key or even treats for later.

Woven nylon fabric is wear- and tear-resistant, making it durable for even the most active dogs. Mesh design is also breathable, dries quickly and is easy to clean.

Available in two sizes: medium, which is 12 to 16 inches in length, and large, which is 16 to 24 inches in length.

Purchase at Alite Design's website, www.alitedesigns.com, or www.rei.com.

Price is $18.

Frequent fliers offer choices for comfy travel

We polled travel experts and super-frequent fliers to get their suggestions for smooth traveling.

* Teri Gault, the CEO of the GroceryGame.com and frequent flier, suggested Spray Stop Bugging Me! ($7.99) on bug-prone areas like mattresses and bedding, and protect yourself from any potential bedbugs when you're in and out of hotels.

* Matthew G. Bailey, an adventure traveler, entrepreneur and writer of the blog A World of Inspiration, offered a handy travel companion: the Kiva Keychain Backpack ($9.95). It's a small keychain that turns into a backpack for day trips.

* Carolyn W. Paddock, founder of In-Flight Insider and former flight attendant, suggests the Mindfold Sleeping Mask ($14.60). It not only blocks out the light, but the comfortable soft foam interior also is contoured so that it doesn't disturb your makeup. The best eyeshade ever.
