* 1986 -- Kennewick senior Ken Holle recently returned from a football camp at Brigham Young University, where he was named most valuable receiver out of a field of 75 catchers.

* 1984 -- Meadow Springs' Jim Bixler and partner Craig McDonald combined for a gross score of 61 to take the first-day lead in the Orv Marcum two-man best ball golf tournament at Sham-Na-Pum.

* 1951 -- Coach Fran Rish had his first look at his Richland squad, and it was a double take. The Bombers, who had lost but four of their starters from the 1950 season -- including All-State linemen Clarence Fulcher and Jerry Marzyck -- were undertaking drills in the morning and afternoon.
