Is the only reason to vote for the Republican U.S. Rep. Doc Hastings in 2012 is because he supports not breaching the Snake River dams? I don't think so! Jay Clough, Democratic candidate, doesn't support the breaching of the dam based upon scientific and environmental reasons. Unlike Doc, Jay consistently uses science, education, history and evaluations of past policies to choose the best for our area and our country.
Doc voted 97 percent Republican, which these days don't support the science or history that show austerity programs for our country do not work.
Doc has continued to vote down any programs, including jobs programs, initiated by a Democrat or President Obama, just because they were Democrat. Doc took the "no new tax" pledge, especially benefiting the super-rich and corporations at the expense of the Middle Class. With poll after poll over 70 percent of the population wants Republicans to tax the rich and leave Medicare and Social Security alone.
All of this is easily confirmed on the internet, just check his voting record. If you vote for any Republican, including Doc, in 2012, be prepared for privatizing Social Security, education, justice centers, utilities, water and even government.
