I would like to express my disgust in city council candidate Loren Nichols and his comments in regard to how illegal immigrants should be handled. I think Nichols' comments make Kennewick look like a racist and ignorant town, and I will be truly disgusted if he is elected into city council.

I agree this country should have laws and restrictions on immigration for any person coming from any country. I also believe people think immigrants are the reasons for all the problems we have in this country when really they aren't. I think people should remember that none of us, unless a descendent from Native Americans, started out in this country.

If we followed the philosophy of Nichols, what kind of country would that make us? Not one that I would be proud to live in and call home. You can guarantee that if Nichols is elected into city council, Kennewick will become worse off and a place that I would no longer want to call home. There are better ways of handling the issues of illegal immigration, and the first would to be to not elect Nichols!
