An 18-year-old Kennewick man was arrested Friday night when a loaded gun was found inside his car during a traffic stop.

Oscar E. Hernandez was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of carrying a concealed pistol without a proper license and third-degree driving with a suspended license.

Hernandez was driving a green 1995 Toyota Avalon at 8:46 p.m. when officers with Kennewick's Criminal Apprehension Team reportedly stopped the car for an equipment violation. Police learned that his driver's license had been suspended, according to Officer Craig Hanson in a news release.

During the investigation, officers saw what they believed to be a handgun sticking out from under the driver's seat. Hernandez allegedly admitted to having a loaded .357-caliber revolver under the seat.

A search warrant was obtained and police seized a Ruger revolver, Hanson said.
