Governor: Inslee

12:00am on Aug 28, 2011

I had the opportunity to meet Jay Inslee recently at a reception held in the Tri-Cities, where Mr. Inslee talked about his reasons for seeking to serve as our governor. I was very impressed with Jay's knowledge of the Mid-Columbia and his vision for a "working Washington."

Jay has served in the House of Representatives for more than a decade (including time as our 4th District representative), and is the founder and co-chairman of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, and a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Jay has well-formed ideas about how to leverage the extensive capabilities of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to develop advanced technologies for sustainable energy and to spin off "green" businesses that bring jobs and revenues to the region and the state.

Jay comes across as a consensus builder, something sorely needed in today's divisive political climate. Be warned however, Jay Inslee will base his policies on reason, not ideology. He has a healthy respect for science, a heartfelt admiration for hard working Americans, and a varied work experience that keeps him grounded. We would be well-served with Jay Inslee as our next governor.
