On this day: August 23, 1954

Prompt action by two Richland boys helped the fire department put out a fire before extensive damage was done. Patrick Linn, 10 and Stanley Miller, 8, both of Richland were sitting on the lawn at 1123 Cottonwood Drive when they saw flames in a window next door. They told their parents who told the boys to pull the fire alarm on a telephone pole on the corner.
