Some folks might find the sarcastic and sometimes bloodlusty humor of comedian Daniel Tosh a bit much.
So if strong language and irreverence ain't your thing, then read no further because you won't give a fig that the Tosh Tour On Ice show is coming to town Aug. 12.
Truth is, Tosh is perhaps one of the funniest, and most popular comedians on the circuit today. His mocking humor has earned him a reputation for pushing the envelope of politically incorrect punchlines, which some critics say can be construed as racist, sexist or homophobic.
Tosh has a perfectly good explanation for his sassy mouth on his website. "I'm not a misogynist and racist person," he said. "But I do find those jokes funny, so I say them."
Well, there you have it. Go check out this funnyman on Twitter or Facebook and find out just how irreverent he can be. As he stated on Twitter over the weekend: "Walk like an Egyptian is rarely performed at funerals," he said. "Now that's sad."
He even finds humor in tragedy. In one of his videos, he pokes fun at New Orleans after it was tragically hit by Hurricane Katrina.
"If any place was in need of a bath, it was New Orleans," he joked.
And all that from a guy with an adorably sweet smile and innocent look about him. On first impression, you wouldn't think Tosh would say crap if he had a mouthful. But you'd be ever so wrong.
As soon as he does open his mouth, this jokemeister uses jarring sarcasm to make some pretty jolting points.
A jaunt online to checkout his YouTube videos might be a worthwhile trip if you're thinking about buying a ticket to his show.
And speaking of Tosh's show at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, there aren't a whole lot of tickets left to buy.
"Tickets have taken on a life of their own," said Jude Strode, marketing coordinating for the coliseum. "We had 4,000 to sell and we sold most of them the first week after they went on sale. I think we have less than 400 left and I doubt there will be any left the day of the show."
Tosh started making noise on the comedy circuit in the late 1990s after graduating from college in 1996. A couple of years later, his routine was televised at Montreal's Theatre Saint-Denis. Then in 2001, he made his American TV debut on The Late Show with David Letterman. He's been on the fast track of fame ever since.
He's also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live several times, and been featured in comedy specials on ABC, CBS and NBC networks as well as the cable channel's Comedy Central. The latest special was Happy Thoughts, which appeared on Comedy Central in March.
He has released three top-selling albums, and his popularity is still growing.
Not bad for a kid who was born in Germany, raised in Florida and holds a degree in marketing. His sarcasm is colorful, even if he is the son of a preacher man. And he makes no apologies for his strong language.
"I love to swear," he says. It's just what he does.
