We asked the U-96 Spirit of Qatar team if there was any thought in trying to get the U-11 team up front in Heat 3A.

If JW Myers could have finished second or better in the race, driving his U-11 Stevenson Roofing presents Peters & May, he would have scored just enough points to make the final six for the final.

That would also have made Steve David in the Oberto the trailer boat for the final.

Instead, Myers finished fourth and didn't make the final. David is in as the sixth boat.

"We decided not to do anything," said 96 driver Dave Villwock. "JW needed to get second place for that to happen."

Qatar team manager Erick Ellstrom said the team at least made an atempt.

"We tried to make some room for JW, but he ran out of laps," Ellstrom said. "We thought about doing something. We leave no stone unturned around here."
