Teammates gave the fans a great show.
Jeff Bernard in the U-5 Graham Trucking and Scott Liddycoat in the U-7 Valken.com battled deck to deck for three laps, trading the lead three times.
Bernard seemed to have Liddycoat on the turns, carving through the water. But Liddycoat had some great acceleration coming out of turns.
"Man he was fast," said Bernard of his teammate. "He had a little bit of acceleration out of the corners. I think it was better to sit in Lane 2 like he was. And then I hit a hole in turn 1 on that last lap."
That last hole caused Bernard to lose some speed, and he wasn't able to catch his teammate, who took 400 points.
Bernard brought home 300 points for second place, while Greg Hopp in the U-100 Beacon Plumbing was third for 225 points.
Dr. Ken Muscatel in the U-25 97 Rock was fourth for 169 points.
Ryan Mallow was unable to get the U-99 Miss HAPO Community Credit Union to start.
