OK, race officials added a Heat 3C to the program today, as there has been no attrition to the field.
Hard to have attrition when no one has raced today.
Now the Lamb Weston Columbia Cup final has been moved back to 5:10 p.m.
Now, race officials have told me that if the boats start to fall by the wayside in the first round of heats today, they could cancel that 3C.
And if you're wondering about how long the Water Follies has access to this course on the Columbia, the answer is "until we're done."
In past years, the races had to be done by 6 p.m. Sunday night so that the river could re-open.
It was only ever an issue one time, when winds were strong enough that races had to be delayed for a few hours.
But apparently the Coast Guard is the one to make the decision on when the river needs to be re-opened. Water Follies officials say the Coast Guard will let them finish the races.
