Chief referee Mike Noonan just met with the H1 Unlimited drivers and crew chiefs to prep them for today's three heats.
Noonan noted the U-99 Miss HAPO Community Credit Union has asked for and received a chairman's option to get into the race. The boat's driver, Ryan Mallow, will not be allowed to race in today's Heat 1B.
He doesn't have enough laps under his belt to qualify as an unlimited driver. So David Williams, who was at the meeting, was told he'd be driving by Noonan.
"No one's said anything to me yet," Williams said.
Noonan said boat owner Fred Leland was going to talk to him.
Meanwhile, Noonan said there will be a 2A, 2B and 2C heats on Sunday.
If there are 14 boats still racing after that, there will be three heats for the 3A section.
If there are 13 or less, there would be six boats in 3A, and six boats with a trailer in 3B.
