* 1989 -- Mitch Evans of Chelan piloted the Cooper Express, an unsponsored, Allison-engine boat, to an upset win over Miss Budweiser, the world's fastest thunderboat, to win the Columbia Cup. It was the first time an Allison boat won in Tri-Cities since 1971, when MIss Madison turned the trick. Miss Budweiser, driven by Tom D'Eath, led by three boat lengths after five laps but was given a one-lap penalty that allowed Evans to take the checkered flag.

* 1974 -- Jim Sandusky pitched a no-hitter and scored the winning run to lift Othello to a 3-2 win over South Highline in Game 2 of the Washington Little League baseball tournament in Lynwood. It was the deepest run Othello had ever made at the state Little League tourney.
