Bettie and Paul Haverluk

Bettie and Paul Haverluk of Richland will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 30 with a family dinner in their home and a Seattle Mariners game.

They were married July 28, 1951, at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Church in Belfield, N.D. They moved from Belfield to the Tri-Cities in 1965.

Bettie is a homemaker and worked part time for Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland and continues to work for the parish.

Paul owned Ideal Cleaners in Belfield, N.D., and went to work for New City Cleaners in Richland when they moved here. He co-owned several cleaners, becoming the sole proprietor of the Coit Franchise in 1984. He retired in 1993.

The are members of the Ukrainian Cultural Institute in North Dakota and Christ the King Parish for 46 years. They enjoy playing pinochle at the Knights of Columbus, gardening, traveling, reading and watching their grandchildren's sporting events and the Seattle Mariners.

They have five children, Paulette Haldeman of Dickinson, N.D.; the late Gerard Haverluk; Charlette Cole of Kennewick; Colette Carman of Richland and Bernard Haverluk of Richland. They have 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
