Two Prosser residents were critically injured when a truck crashed into their motorcycle on a rural Benton County road.

Joseph Toregrase, 46, and Janice Rennebohm, 62, were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the wreck, said Benton County sheriff's Deputy Joe Lusignan.

Both were listed in serious condition Friday night, according to a nursing supervisor. They reportedly suffered head and leg injuries.

At the time of the crash, sheriff's deputies indicated the motorcyclists were so severely injured that it was not known if they would survive, according to Benton County District Court documents.

The crash happened at 9:45 p.m. Thursday on Old Inland Empire Highway, about a quarter mile east of Knox Road.

Toregrase and Rennebohm were on a 1994 Harley-Davidson Road King when a 2012 GMC pickup crossed into their lane and slammed into them, Lusignan said.

The driver of the truck, Chad M. Sehnert, 33, of Benton City, was arrested. Sehnert is believed to have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash, documents said.

He made an initial appearance in District Court on Friday and was ordered held without bail in the Benton County jail on investigation of two counts of vehicular assault.

Lusignan said the crash remains under investigation. Speed and toxicology tests are pending.

Man jailed after alleged threats

A 43-year-old Richland man is being held in jail after allegedly throwing a woman to the ground during an argument and threatening to kill her if she called police.

Richland police arrested Richard Robson Trott on Thursday after the 30-year-old woman was able to get away from Trott and call police from downtown Kennewick, court documents said.

The woman said she was arguing with Trott at his home at 303 W. Gage Blvd. when things escalated and he threw her to the ground, documents said.

He reportedly covered her mouth with both hands to the point where she could barely breathe, then threatened her if she called police, document said.

Trott was arrested and booked into the Benton County jail. He is being held on investigation of second-degree attempted assault, domestic violence and felony harassment.
