* 1987 -- Richland tennis player Mike Malin beat Kennewick's Jeff Petersen 6-4, 6-4 for the men's 4.0 championship in the Dunning Ray Columbia Cup. It was the first time in three years that Petersen had not taken the title. Top-seeded Amy Umetsu defeated Leslie Bannister 6-4, 7-5 for the women's 4.0 title.

* 1981 -- Mike Bettinson homered in Game 1 and smacked a bases-loaded triple in Game 2 to help the Kennewick Dusters beat Wenatchee 9-4 and 10-8 in an American Legion doubleheader.

* 1973 -- In a Northwest League game delayed a total of 35 minutes because of wind and dust, the Tri-City Imperials beat Walla Walla 6-3 at Sanders-Jacobs Field. Brad Bevan went 3-for-4 for Tri-City.
