* 1986 -- John Jaha's towering blast in the seventh inning -- his sixth of the season -- provided the difference, but it was Dave Connelly's first hit of the season, a two-out home run in the fourth, that kept the Tri-Cities Triplets in the game en route to an 8-6 victory over the Salem Angels.

* 1972 -- Mel Stottlemyre of Mabton pitched a seven-hit shutout as the New York Yankees beat the California Angels 5-0. It was Stottlemyre's third shutout in three starts that season against California.

* 1966 -- Chris Manolopoulos and Emit Jackson each dumped in 20 points to pace the Cougars to an easy 74-38 Richland Summer Basketball League victory over the Celtics.
