* 1984 -- Guard Kevin Presto of Richland scored 22 points to lead the Yakima River Basin AAU basketball team to a 98-96 opening-round win over Memphis, Tenn., at the AAU Junior Olympics in Jacksonville, Fla.

* 1972 -- Richland's red-hot Legion baseball team swept Upper Valley 3-2 and 2-0 behind the superlative pitching of 17-year-old righthanders Dean Hinchliffe and Keith Prichard.
